ELO ranking system

ELO points earned after each match place players into corresponding skill tiers.

ELO Rating & Tier Rules

⚡ 1. Flexible K-Factor

• New players (<10 matches): K = 40 (rating changes faster to identify skill level). • Experienced players (10–30 matches): K = 24. • Veteran players (>30 matches): K = 16 (more stable ratings).

🔥 2. Winning Streak & Margin Bonuses

• 3-match winning streak: ×1.1 ELO gained. • 5-match winning streak: ×1.2 ELO. • 7+ match winning streak: ×1.3 ELO. • Dominant wins (large set-score margin) receive an additional score-difference multiplier.

👑 3. Upset Bonus

• Beat an opponent rated 200+ ELO higher: +5 ELO bonus. • Beat an opponent rated 400+ ELO higher: +10 ELO bonus.

⏳ 4. Inactivity Rule (ELO Decay)

• No official match for 1 continuous month: ratings below 1400 remain unchanged; ratings from 1400 upward decrease by tier each month: 1400–1499 by 2%, 1500–1599 by 3%, 1600–1699 by 4%, and 1700+ by 5%.

• The ELO shield also applies when decay crosses a protected threshold: the threshold is preserved once, after which the shield expires.

• Doubles have a separate rating for each pair, initialized at 1000 ELO; individual ELO averages are not used for pair rankings.
